Short answer

Divide millimetres by 10 for centimetres. Euro / EPAL 1 is 1200 × 800 mm or 120 × 80 cm.

1200 mm = 1.2 m and 800 mm = 0.8 m; 1.2 × 0.8 = 0.96 m².
