Common footprints range from 800 × 600 mm half pallets to the 1165 × 1165 mm Australian format. Choose by named format and market, not by assuming one global standard.

Market, terminology and context

Side lengths alone can hide a significant area difference. Comparing area, orientation, market and source creates a more useful decision record.

Method and calculation

Convert both dimensions to the same unit, multiply without intermediate rounding, then compare area difference against the chosen baseline.

Worked example

North American versus EPAL 1: 1.2387 ÷ 0.96 = about 1.29, so the North American footprint is about 29% larger.

What remains variable

A smaller footprint is not automatically better. Pallet selection includes operational questions outside this site.
