Market, terminology and context

The Australian square footprint is materially different from the North American, UK and Euro rectangles. Bunnings documents 1165 × 1165 mm in its Australian shipping-platform context, and CHEP lists the format in Australia.

Method and calculation

Because the footprint is square, rotating it does not change a simple rectangular grid. Divide both clear space sides by 1165 mm, take whole counts and multiply.

Worked example

Each footprint covers 1.357225 m² before gaps. Ten rectangles therefore cover 13.57225 m² of theoretical floor area.

What remains variable

Container names do not guarantee internal dimensions. Check doors, clear width, obstructions, cargo, equipment, weights and rules separately.
